Space Z | Beijing, China
Space Z in Beijing is an experimental space for art and home to China’s renowned artist, Zeng Fanzhi’s personal studio. The space, which was renovated from an existing office, is flexible enough to showcase a diversity of different artworks. StudioSZ was engaged by several parties to document the contemporary, minimalist interior gallery spaces as well as several meeting, working, and dining areas.

With several client groups invested in the photoshoot, we needed to cater our photographic work to all parties involved, including the architect / interior designer, artist owner, and lighting designer. With that in mind, we made sure that we would have access to the space for ample amount of time so we could confidently come away with the photos everyone was expecting.

Organizing a photoshoot in the midst of China’s zero-COVID era was no easy task. With heavy restrictions on travel throughout the country, careful planning was required. Fortunately, we had a great client in ERCO who helped us every step of the way.

Despite the logistical challenges, we came a way with a gorgeous collection of images tailored to all three cost-sharing parties involved. Operating during COVID times in China proved difficult, but the final set of photos made the extra effort worthwhile.
