TCC DAKA Renewable Recycling Resource Center | Xiulin Township, Taiwan

TCC Hoping reimagines a concrete manufacturing complex on Taiwan’s east coast into a "living laboratory" that integrates industrial production with cultural and environmental conservation.  By utilizing industrial byproducts for ecological projects and hosting community workshops, the development transforms a functional plant into a social destination focused on environmental awareness and social responsibility.

StudioSZ was engaged by KPF to provide comprehensive architectural, aerial, and interior photography and videography for this sustainable new building addition in eastern Taiwan.  

  • The goal here as really about showcasing a project that is all about sustainability.  The surrounding landscape played a huge factor in how we approached this shoot.  The building sits beautifully between mountains with fog rolling over their peaks and the nearby ocean.  Truly a spectacular site.  We also needed to make sure we highlighted how this new cultural building slotted into a larger sustainable framework that already existed on the site.  

  • One major challenge for this shoot was simply logistics.  The project location is quite remote with no hotels nearby.  We booked the nearest hotel which was two train stops away, which meant some very early morning wake-up calls to ensure we were on site and in the right spot for the early morning sunrise light.

    Additionally, since the building was not yet open to the public, we needed to coordinate models to come join the shoot from places as far as Taipei.  A lot of times, taking the photographs become the easiest part of the shoot!

  • We were blessed with three days of stunning light and came a way with a set of images we’re really proud of.  With the exception of multiple 4am wake-up calls, the shoot went just about as smooth as it could go.  Beautiful design.  Incredible site.  Amazingly helpful on-site staff support.  Not much more you can ask for really.
